4 Days Of Shit
Yes! 4 days of pure duty and shit. Wearing the same set of uniform for 5 days straight. I've been doing my 24/7 duties on sun, mon, tues and weds consecutively. All I probably get is like 1 day off.. courtesy of my new platoon commander 2Lt Elgin. 2Lt Chew just got promoted to full lieutenant, anyway he's ORDing in June, so is Andy, Edwin, Jeremy (I think he signed on navy) and Gilbert. Goodbye guys, good luck and fark off. Mine's next!I'm finally, officially going to receive my long overdue promotion to LCP, like few months before i ORD? At least we have our outgoing PC to thank for, his farewell gift for us before he ORD. Long overdue but Thanks!
The moral of my and my mates have been pretty low, we are going through a rough patch again of yet another transition. MSG Goh is gone, MTO is like ORDing, 3DA duties are driving us nuts, no incoming personnel, its always us, the old guys supporting the same shit over and over and over.
During the good old days in Good Life Squadron, June guys are already slacking in bunk, or at home, awaiting their IC. September guys would be the teaching the new guys the ropes and at the same time reducing their own workload.
Our friends in the other units in camp are slowly beginning to transit to ORD mood and handing over some of their work to the new fellows. I see myself stuck in an endless cycle of duties in which sadly I probably have no escape from even when I am clearing offs and leave. I can foresee myself being recalled back to camp to stand in for duties... Enough said.
Anyway over the past few days in camp, I was like busy sorting out the girls. Xiao yu called me, sounded nice enough initally, but she turned out to be someone who enjoys mouthing off, not my type. Next was Michelle, nice girl but had a extremely complicated erm.. history which really puts anyone off, but she is quite polite, enjoys chatting and laughing.
Finally, I manage to talk to someone decent, Zi Li, 23 from beijing. Shes a chinese national working and studying in Sg. I could for once have a proper conversation with someone who's thinking isn't that screwed up. She sound mature, hardworking and definately someone who grew up in a city. I'm honestly suprised by the fact that someone of her age can differ so much from a Singaporean girl of the same age, in terms of thinking. I guess we have alot to learn from China. She plays the Pipa and is teaching music part time at a primary school. I'm probably meeting her for dinner after my duty week is over.
I'm someone who doesn't speak ill of the opposite sex unless there is truth in it. But I've met many Sg girls and I notice something in common in about 8/10 of them. I'm not sure if its due to the influence of taiwan or korean dramas, but most of them expect men to treat them like royalty. I got snubbed by this particular girl all because I called her like 1 min late when I was busy with work. Wake up!! While there is truth in which Sg guys are pretty despo (i.e spamming the lady asking for a patch up or a quickie), there are people like me who think logically and HATE girls with princess syndrome.
I admit I was once young and dumb, the type who will wait faithfully for someone, I mean I still will, but only if I'm getting the same treatment back. I'm seeing several girls now, not because I'm a flirt, but I just want to choose the best for myself, and after I found her, the rest can just stay as friends. So far I've sort of found that someone already who shares that sort of mindset as me and is currently seeing her.
Honestly, deep down in my heart, thank you to the one who released me of my misery. I'm glad you made that choice, because after looking around, I notice that there are plenty of nice and good girls around.
